Aching finger joints can be the result of many things, including aging, lack of antioxidants, overuse, and just plain abuse. Age and downright abuse top my list of reasons for aching finger joints ... how about you?
Luckily, there are some simple ways that you can alleviate the aches in those finger joints (and other joints in your body as well). Two of my personal favorites include an overnight solution as well as a more long-term solution.
Resolving Aching Finger Joints Overnight: Castor Oil
Castor oil continues to be one of the most popular Edgar Cayce remedies for all kinds of health issues, and it's no wonder. Castor oil has the ability to remove from the body anything that doesn't belong, including bone spurs, foreign objects, and even the calcium buildup that may be causing the pain in your finger joints.
Of course, one of the problems with castor oil is that it's thick, gooey, and does not easily penetrate the skin. That's why most people use a heating pad when applying castor oil to the body (get instructions for castor oil packs HERE).
But heating pads are pretty awkward to wrap around your fingers, so I have another solution: latex or rubber gloves (or cotton gloves if you are allergic to latex or rubber). To alleviate those aching finger joints, just do the following:
- Rub castor oil (Palma Christi is the Edgar Cayce brand) all over your hands at night before you go to bed.
- Put latex, rubber, or cotton gloves on. Wipe any excess castor oil off the outside of the gloves.
- Sleep overnight in the gloves.
- In the morning, remove the gloves, and wipe your hands thoroughly with a paste of baking soda and water.
So that's my overnight solution for relieving pain in your fingers. For longer-term healing, you might want to add the following second option to your regimen.
Resolving Aching Finger Joints Long Term: Antioxidants
The word 'antioxidant' gets thrown around a lot, and most people know that they are good supplements to take, but don't really know what they do. To simplify, antioxidants are nutritional substances that protect cells from breaking down. Antioxidants protect our bodies against unstable reactive molecules called free radicals. Free radicals, the bad guys, can:
- damage body tissue and cells
- interfere with metabolic functions
- allow infections and disease into the body
- speed up the aging process
Good choices of antioxidants to take include:
While coenzyme Q10 and blue green algae can be taken in maintenance doses, if you want to support and resolve your aching finger joints, it's best to take a lot of wheat sprouts in the beginning, and then taper off to a maintenance dose. The reason is because a high concentration of wheat sprouts can create a strong detoxifying and cleansing effect on the body, relieving pain and inflammation.
I recommend my clients with joint pain take up to 10-12 capsules of wheat sprouts daily for at least 2 weeks before tapering off. The results are much better than spreading the same number of capsules out over many weeks. A maintenance dose is usually around 2-4 capsules daily, depending on the state of your finger and other joints.
The great thing about taking antioxidants is that they help support all of your joints, not just your aching finger joints. When you take antioxidants, your knees, ankles, shoulders, and back will feel the positive support as well ...and they will thank you!
