You may think keeping it simple is easier said than done if you have studied the Theory of Oxidative Stress at all. Here it is in a nutshell.
Our bodies age because of damage to cells and then organs caused by the accumulation of free radicals. Free radicals are unbalanced molecules and the most problematic one is the oxygen free radical. These molecules look for other molecules to bind to so they can become balanced, thus damaging other cells and creating a chain of changing free radicals. Antioxidants can protect skin and organs from this process by neutralizing these changing free radicals. There are a variety of antioxidants that can affect the different types of free radicals and no single one will work on all free radicals in all parts of the body. Here are 3 basic things to remember about antioxidant protection.
-Only use natural whole food complexes, enzymes and extracts
-Use a combination of different antioxidants creating a complete complex
-Using a combination of antioxidants creates a synergistic effect
Now let's look at a rundown of how the damage happens and what you can do to minimize the damage.
Singlet oxygen, which is not a true free radical starts the process often triggered by ultraviolet light. This starts elastase and collagenase to form which destroy elastin and collagen and decrease the blood supply to the skin. This can be neutralized by coenzyme Q 10, beta-carotene which is found in blue-green algae and green tea extract.
Superoxide causes infloammation that attacks cells and interrupts blood flow, destroys enzymes and cell membranes. You can see the result as fine lines and wrinkles on the skin. This can be neutralized by vitamin C, Vitamin E, trace amounts of zinc, copper, and manganese which are found in blue-green algae, green tea, and coenzyme Q 10.
Lipid Peroxyl is a radical that hardens and deforms lipids in cell walls and fluids. This results in thick, rough skin, deep wrinkles and sagging skin. These can be neutralized by grape seed and grape skin extracts, green tea, coenzyme Q 10, vitamin C and vitamin E.
Hydrogen Peroxide is not a direct free radical but it can cross through the cell membrane and harden or deform protein molecules in the nucleus. It can also convert to hydroxyl radical when iron is present. You see this at work when the skin has age spots, dryness, irritation, sensitivity and poor immune system response. Gluthathione, found in blue-green algae, peroxidase, and catalase can neutralize this process.
The Hydroxyl radical is the most dangerous of the oxygen free radicals. It can attack and mutate DNA. At this point damaged cells must be destroyed by the body. Vitamin C and superoxide dismutase which is found in blue-green algae can neutralize this.
As you can probably tell, Simplexity products have the antioxidants you need to combat and neutralize these damaging free radicals. Super Q10 not only has the coenzyme Q10, but also contains 82% of the daily value of vitamin A (beta-carotene) and a full spectrum of carotenoids (natural antioxidants) found in red beta Algae (Dunaliella salina) and Super Blue Green Alpha Sun Algae. NutraBeautiful Antioxidant Lotion with WGPTM Beta Glucan is applied directly to the skin to protect against free radical damage. NutraBeautiful is also now available in individual 5 ml packets so you can use it on the go. ImmuSun also contains WGPTM Beta Glucan in its capsule form that supports the body's immune system and supports the production and activity of beneficial white blood cells. Freggies, the newest product from Simplexity, contains a phytonutrient and antioxidant blend that includes Betacarotene and Lutein and was developed to protect against the effects of aging.
When it comes to battling free radicals and maintaining healthy skin you can keep it simple, just remember Simplexity's antioxidant products have got you covered inside and out.
