Being Mad as a Hatter is No Joke When it Comes to Mercury Poisoning

Do you know where the phrase "mad as a hatter" came from? It is not just a phrase, it has an actual meaning. Back in Britain, between 1600 and 1800, makers of felt hats used quicksilver, which is mercury nitrate, to make hats. It was a carefully guarded trade secret.

The only problem, of course, is that people who wore these hats became, well, mad as hatters. They developed poor memories, inappropriate behaviors, and even tremors that became know as "the hatter's shakes."

Wow! Talk about being mad as a hatter! Can you say heavy metal poisoning? So much for the "trade secret."

Before We Knew About Mercury Poisoning and Its Effects
Unfortunately, many people were negatively affected by mercury poisoning before scientists discovered that this heavy metal caused many health issues. Back in the day, mercury was used in many medications, especially those used to treat syphilis. Doctors even directly injected people with mercury and applied direct mercury ointments.

Worse, many dentists continue to use mercury amalgam fillings today, even though negative effects of mercury are well documented. What does mercury do to the body? Here's a short list:
  • generates free radical cell damage and cell death
  • inhibits many antioxidants, including super oxide dismutase (SOD)
  • retards brain development
  • speeds the development of diabetes, hypertension, strokes, and cardiovascular disease
  • causes muscle weakness, include chronic fatigue syndrome
... and that's only the short list! Mercury poisoning can also lead to arthritis, depression, dermatitis, dizziness, gum disease, hair loss, and insomnia.

What to Do if You Suspect You Have Mercury Poisoning
If you are concerned about mercury poisoning, whether because of dental fillings, eating a lot of seafood, or external sources of contamination, luckily there are steps you can take to help your body get rid of mercury.

To help your body rid itself of mercury, you need to ingest foods and supplements high in:
  • chlorophyll
  • enzymes
  • antioxidants
All of these will support the cleansing process, especially at the cellular level as well as from the liver and kidneys. Research shows that the food richest in all of these substances is AFA blue-green algae. According to Dr. Jeffrey Bruno,
"The use of algae has stimulated the excretion of some contaminants ... lead and mercury are also excreted without detrimental effects associated with conventional chelation therapy."
Other herbs that support detoxification of mercury include cilantro, yellow dock, milk thistle, dandelion, red clover, burdock, cleavers, marshmallow, and licorice.

I have successfully helped myself and other people I advise on nutrition to successfully detoxify their bodies of mercury. Of course, the first step is to remove any possible sources of mercury poisoning, including excess seafood and dental fillings made of mercury amalgam.

Then I usually suggest people take these daily packs of supplements that include AFA blue-green algae, enzymes, acidophilus, and bifidus. For an extra boost, I also suggest this wheat sprout and algae supplement from the same company, as the concentrated wheat sprouts have a very strong antioxidant effect in the body. Alternatively, Dragon River Herbals also has a powerful herbal detoxification program, including detailed instructions on how to use it. Both of these approaches have worked well for many people.

So ... consider trying either of these approaches if you are feeling the negative effects of mercury poisoning, or just feeling a tad mad as a hatter!

Blue Green Algae- More Than a Mood Food

by guest author Madalyn Ward, DVM

Does the food you eat affect your moods? Absolutely and in a big way. A heavy mood food like meat can slow you down and stimulants such as coffee and tea can lift you up. Foods that are prepared with love, leave you feeling better than those that are mass produced. We all have our favorite comfort mood food and it usually one our mom prepared for us as kids. All these foods have a short term affect on our moods.

But what about a mood food that acts on a deeper level of our consciousness? Is there such a thing as a pattern breaking food? I believe at least one food can help you break through deep patterns in your consciousness and it is the blue green algae, Aphanizomenon flos-aquae, from Klamath Lake.

When I was first introduced to Simplexity AFA algae, in 1993, I was very skeptical that it could have any actual health benefits for people or animals. I had seen a few animals respond well but still I doubted. Since I don't promote products I don't believe in I asked for guidance from the healing angels about the algae. I was not expecting the message I received.

A Message about the Algae received 12/31/1993
Let us talk about the algae. It is a gift to your planet to be given to those on the path of love. It is structured to trigger one's awareness of changes taking place within them and across the planet. It is more than simple nutrition. Held within the algae is a blueprint for the unfolding process to regain lost aspects of what your true selves have always been.

As you know so well, you do not use but a small portion of your talents. Humans have been unaware for so long that most live their lives in darkness. The algae causes people to wake up. It can reach so many because of its totally harmless character. There are no contra-indications for algae.

There are no situations where it won't be beneficial. All who take the algae benefit from it, whether they choose to be aware or not. New cells in the body begin functioning, and these cells are a part of your superhuman body that is encased in your current physical body. As these new cells are awakened, you will have a new lease on life. You will literally see through new eyes and hear through new ears and feel through a new heart. In a way it is indeed a pattern-breaking technology, but even more than that it is creating entirely new cells with new outlooks.

It has been almost 20 years since I first starting working with the Simplexity AFA blue green algae for myself and all types of animals. Over this time I have reflected back occasionally on the original message about the algae. I have been amazed when people would get excited about the health benefits of the products and order them only to return them immediately unopened. In hindsight, I suspect that since the algae is more than a short term good mood food these people had deeper patterns they were not aware of or not ready to change. For myself, I have had to decrease my consumption of the algae when I found my frustration levels mounting as I attempted to shift patterns I did not fully understand. The algae is not a replacement for therapy but it can help it work faster.

I also believe the source of the AFA algae makes a difference. It does not take large doses of the AFA to make a significant difference. It does, however, take energy to shift deep patterns. You may not want to start the algae if you are sick or rundown. Better to build your life force and then begin. I am always open to sharing my experiences and helping you find the program that is the best fit for you.

Enhance Your Mental Faculties... and Maybe Your Psychic Powers Too!

by guest author: Leta Worthington, Animal Communciator

The secret is the blood-brain barrier. Sounds like something out of a horror movie, but it's really a great thing, as you will read below. But first, here's my personal story about how my own mental faculties and psychic powers were enhancedwithin about half an hour. Seriously.

Twenty years ago a friend introduced me to a form of blue-green algae called Aphanizomenon flos-aquae (aka "AFA") by giving me one single capsule of what's called Omega Sun. Within 30 minutes my whole being responded. I felt like my vibratory frequency (yes, we all have one) had been raised about 100 notches, and my physical energy and mood had been enhanced equally. I felt indescribably happy, almost euphoric. It was also easier than I had ever experienced to "tune in" to the animals I talked to for clients, and to feel and receive other types of information psychically as well. Needless to say, I bought a bottle of Omega Sun and immediately signed up with Simplexity Health (then called Cell Tech) so that I could order more algae any time I wanted, wholesale, and share it with others as well.

So here's why this amazing substance, especially in the form of Omega Sun, works so well in achieving this effect. And if you don't want to read all the technical stuff, you can just skip to the last paragraph or two.The blood-brain barrier is a protective network of blood vessels and cells that filters blood flowing to the brain, thereby shielding the central nervous system from contaminants. So it's a good thing.

That said, this barrier can also have the effect of keeping out quite a few other things that might be beneficial to the brain, like nutrients in the form of less-than-perfect foods we all consume nowadays, to give just one example. Being the hungriest organ in the body, the brain voraciously desires the nutrients, but unfortunately the fillers or refined aspects of many foods prevent the good stuff from ever reaching it.

Enter Omega SunOmega Sun is a form of blue-green algae known as Aphanizomenon flos-aquae , acknowledged to be the oldest complete food on the planet. This particular form, Omega Sun, has had its cell wall removed so that its inner goodness can pass through the blood-brain barrier unimpeded.

I could go on and on about the properties and benefits of Aphanizomenon flos-aquae, and how it provides just about every nutrient your body needs, in the form of a living, single-cell, raw food that is highly assimilable, but, in a nutshell:  it used to grow in many fresh water lakes on earth but now flourishes in only one remaining place in Oregon, Upper Klamath Lake, where it is fed by nothing but the sun and 35 feet of volcanic deposits on the bottom of the lake. Simplexity Health Inc., a 25+ year-old company, is dedicated to nothing more than safely harvesting and preserving this amazing food, and is responsible for making it available in several different forms.

Omega Sun is just one of Simplexity's brainchildren, and is the one that can so easily pass the blood-brain barrier and feed your brain.

This is serious brain food, folks. Really.

So if you are feeling mentally foggy, like your head is stuffed with cotton, or you want to amp up your psychic reception, try Omega Sun. You can order it right HERE, right now. Oh, and also, it may help improve your spirits dramatically if you suffer from depression. I can't swear to this because depression isn't one of my monsters. (But hmmm, come to think of it, maybe that's because I've been taking algae for 20 years now.) Anyway, sure is worth a try.

Avoid Being a Vegetable in Old Age: Eat More Vegetables and Fruits

Do you know the two main factors that lead to loss of brain function?

Stress and inflammation.

Experts now believe that stress and inflammation in our bodies contribute significantly to cognitive impairment. At the same time, studies show that eating more foods rich in flavonoids can slow the loss of brain function as we age. Flavonoids are natural nutrients that occur in our bodies and are also found in a variety of foods. Because flavonoids have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, these nutrients can combat stress and inflammation, both of which contribute to the decline of brain function.

The Research
A number of studies support the fact that flavanoids are good for your brain. For instance, the "Nurse's Health Study" showed that in more than 120,000 women, increased consumption of strawberries and blueberries (both rich in flavanoids) slowed cognitive decline in older women. In other words, these women ate more flavanoid-rich foods and their brains stayed sharper as they aged.

Another study, published in the the journal "Nutrition and Cancer," indicated that flavanoids also support the body's immune system against cancer. In this 20-year study, the people with the highest intake of flavanoids had a 44% lower risk of oral cancer plus 40% less occurrence of laryngeal cancer. A diet high in flavanoids, according to the same study, also decreased a person's risk for other types of cancer, such as colon, breast, ovarian, and kidney cancer.

These are just two of the many studies that indicate the healthy benefits of eating more flavanoids.

Foods High in Flavanoids
We already know that eating more flavanoids is good for you, and that berries are high in flavanoids. What other foods are high in flavanoids?

- Tree fruits such as apples, oranges, and bananas
- Nuts and beans like black and kidney beans plus cashews and pistachios
- Red and green vegetables such peppers, eggplants, and red onions plus celery, artichokes and okra
- Micro-algae, especially AFA blue-green algae, which is high not just in flavanoids but also has a wide variety of antioxidants,

The Take Away
The take away lesson here is simple: to keep your brain sharp throughout your life, eat a flavanoid rich diet or supplement your regular diet with whole food supplements such as AFA blue-green algae. By doing so, you will counteract the effects of stress and inflammation, thus preventing damage to your brain!

Stroke Risk Factors: Look at Your Hands and Feet

If you are in middle age and are concerned about stroke risk factors (or dementia risk factors), then a good place to start looking is at your hands and your feet! No kidding!

According to study results presented at the American Academy of Neurology's 64th Annual Meeting, a person's grip strength and walking speed are good predictors of future stroke or dementia later in life. The study included 2,400 adults, who were measured for hand grip strength and walking speed. These 2,400 adults were followed for 11 years, and 34 of them developed dementia while 70 had a stroke.

Stroke Risk Factors: Study Results
The study concluded that people that walked more slowly were one-and-a-half times more likely to develop dementia compared to people who had faster walking speeds. At the same time, stronger hand grip strength meant a 42% lower risk of stoke or transient ischemic attack (TIA) as compared to people with weaker hand grip strength.

At the same time, researchers reported that slower walking speeds were also associated with poorer performance in memory later in life, along with lower total cerebral total brain volume.

So what does this study data mean to you? Nothing different than what you probably already know: Don't be a couch potato, stay fit, and keep an active lifestyle. If you are going to walk from your car to the store, don't shuffle or amble, but walk with energy and a brightness to your step! If you keep an active lifestyle, whether through gardening or workouts at a gym or even just cooking, chances are that you will maintain or even increase your hand strength. And with all of that, you have a decreased propensity for dementia and stroke risk factors!

Other Options for Optimal Brain Function Later in Life
In addition to walking with purpose in your life and keeping your hands strong and healthy, you can also take further steps to keep your brain in good working order now and later in life. You have probably seen the various commercials about online sites where you can "exercise" your brain to keep it active and alert. In addition, there are fun mobile Apps like online Scrabble and other math/verbal apps that challenge your brain.

In terms of supplements, you can also try adding brain foods such as:
  • oysters (they do other wonders for your body too!)
  • whole grains
  • AFA blue-green algae
  • black tea
  • eggs
  • curry
  • berries
  • chocolate
Wow, I vote for chocolate (the good dark organic kind, of course!) for taste. For pure simplicity and results, I love the AFA blue-green algae (Omega Sun from Simplexity Health) which I have seen do wonders for brain support for people who need it. Whether these people are facing brain damage or trauma, aging, or senility, Omega Sun definitely has a supportive effect. Part of the reason is because the Omega Sun contains tiny molecules that are at the heart of the algae, and these molecules are small enough to pass through the blood-brain barrier, directly nourishing the brain.

For instance, consider this study (from "Edible Microalgae by Jefrey Bruno, Ph.D.)
"Researchers at Erasmus University Medical School in the Netherlands conducted a three-year study of 5,100 people between 55 and 95 years of age and found that beta-carotene molecules acted as 'tiny molecular shields' and may provide dramatic protection against the ravages of aging, memory impairment, and general brain damage."

The good news is that AFA blue-green algae contains abundant sources of the beta-carotenes discussed in the study, not to mention plenty of antioxidants. The beauty is that AFA blue green algae is a simple natural solution that is convenient to add to your daily regimen. It literally takes just a few seconds to swallow a couple capsules of the algae, right?

So ... walk with a good stride, keep up you hand strength, eat good chocolate (or whatever strikes your fancy on the list above), add AFA blue-green algae to you diet and you will be doing a lot for your brain and body, not to mention dementia and stroke risk factors! Very cool!

Gain Muscle Lose Fat: A Simple Tip

Unless you are an Olympic athlete, chances are that you, like most of us, want to gain muscle and lose fat, right?

Granted, there is a certain youthful population that doesn't need to worry about this, but as we age the desire to gain muscle and lose fat becomes more important. Did you know that after age 40 women lose muscle mass at half a pound per year? Yikes! That's not good news, since muscles burn many more calories than fat. Plus, we tend to pack on fat around the belly as we age ... and doctors claim that is the most unhealthy place to gain fat.

So what to do, what to do?

How to Gain Muscle, Lose Fat
You probably already know the simple tip that helps your body achieve this: eat more protein and fewer carbs. Duh!

But did you know that the KIND of protein that you eat can make a difference? For instance, one study published in the "Journal of Nutrition" had overweight pre-menopausal women consume diets with low, medium, or high amounts of DAIRY protein while participating in an aerobic and weight lifting program. The women who ate the highest amounts of dairy gained muscle and lost fat. The women in the medium dairy protein group stayed on an even keel, while the women in the low dairy protein group lost muscle.

What is even more important is that the women in the high dairy protein group lost belly fat almost exclusively while at the same time gaining muscle. So go dairy. right?

Gain Muscle Lose Fat for Vegans and the Lactose-Intolerant
But what if you are a vegan or lactose-intolerant? Obviously the high dairy protein diet isn't going to help you gain muscle, lose fat, and get happy! Luckily, there is another source of high quality protein that is just as good or even better than dairy protein: AFA blue green algae. It turns out that this form of microalgae has 75% usable high quality protein. Compare that with just 18% in red meat!

In addition, AFA blue green algae is a very rich source of essential fatty acids, including DHA and EPA. So, if you don't feeling like glugging down a glass of milk per day, consider taking Alpha Sun and Omega Sun blue green algae. Alpha Sun is the whole algae cell and gives your body access to proteins necessary for physical energy, while Omega Sun is the heart of the algae and does the same for mental energy.

Read more about this microalgae here: http://bit.ly/AFA-algae

Either way, take in more high-quality proteins and fewer carbs, and you'll gain muscle, lose fat (especially belly fat), and feel better all the way around!

Omega-3 and Omega-6 Fatty Acids A Quick Explanation

If you are confused about the difference between Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids, you are not alone. Many health-oriented folks are aware that we need these fatty acids, but don't know the role that each plays in the body ... or how much of each we need.

So here's a quick explanation that might help: Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids both fall in the category called Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs), which are fatty acids that our bodies need but which our bodies cannot produce. That means that we have to get EFAs from the foods and supplements we eat.

Getting Omega-6 fatty acids from the foods we eat is relatively simple. Seeds and nuts, plus oils refined from these seeds and nuts, all contain Omega-6 fatty acids. In fact, we tend to get too many Omega-6's from our regular diet.

Omega-3 fatty acids, on the other hand, are much less available. These fatty acids can be found in blue-green algae, and coldwater fish such as salmon and sardines. This means we tend to get too few Omega-3's in our diets.

The imbalance of too many Omega-6 fatty acids and too few Omega-3 fatty acids leads to problems. Why? Because hormones generated from Omega-6's tend to cause inflammation in the body, clotting of the blood, and cell proliferation. The Omega-3 fatty acids have the opposite effect. When we get equal amounts of both types of fatty acids, our bodies stay healthy. But the modern diet gives us way too many Omega-6's and too few Omega-3's.

The solution? Eat more fish. A simpler solution is to add AFA blue-green algae to your diet. Each algae cell contains 4.1 mg of Omega-3 fatty acids and only 0.9 mg of Omega-6 fatty acids. Thus taking blue-green algae can help rebalance these fats in your system.

This balance is important since inflammation from too much Omega-6 can lead to chronic conditions such as coronary heart disease, many forms of cancer, asthma, autoimmunity and neurodegenerative diseases

Natural Wound Care with Probiotics for a "Hole in the Sole"

I've always had a "gut feeling" that probiotics, the friendly bacteria that live in our guts, plays an active role in supporting our immune system. They do this by populating our intestines, and thus forcing out unfriendly invading bacteria that cause us harm. So probiotics, like acidophilus and bifiidus, are definitely good for our insides.

But are they also beneficial for the outsides of our bodies?

In other words, do the support our body's immune defenses when it comes to wound care, bee stings, and rashes? Definitely. And recent scientific publication support this idea.

Natural Wound and Skin Care with Probiotics and Other Goodies
For years patients whom I counsel about nutrition have been applying probiotics, like acidophilus and bifidus, to skin rashes, bug bites, and poison ivy with great results. Mix in a few capsules of enzymes and AFA blue-green algae, and the results are even more supportive of natural healing.

But why does it all work?

It turns out that probiotics, a word that literally means "for life," really support our body's natural immune response by warding off harmful bacteria and other foreign invaders, both inside and outside the body.

For instance, the lactobacillus acidophilus can actually kill off Candida albicans, a nasty fungus that can be very bothersome inside and outside the body, and also slows down the production of the E. coli bacteria. Acidophilus and other forms of probiotics also secrete antibacterial acids that are harmful to pathogenic bacteria in general. Finally, probiotics enhance our bodies' mucosal immunity, preventing the spread of the harmful bacteria and decreasing the risk of infection.

How Probiotics and Other Natural Supplements Support Wound Care
So that's how probiotics work inside and outside the body. When mixed in with enzymes and blue-green algae, the effect is even more supportive of natural healing. When enzymes are taken orally, they help our bodies digest food and also act as internal scavengers, digesting any harmful toxins. Outside the body, enzymes also act as natural scavengers, When applied to wounds, enzymes digest foreign bodies that inhibit our bodies' natural healing process.

Once this happens, the blue-green algae provides the building blocks our bodies need to repair and rebuild at the site of the wound. Blue-green algae provides vitamins, minerals, trace minerals, and the necessary amino acids.

In short, you could say that probiotics and enzymes clear away any inhibitors for natural wound repair, while blue-green algae supports active wound recovery. The combination of these three natural ingredients, mixed with spring water, makes for a wonderful wound-care support salve.

"A Hole in the Sole" Case Study
One client of mine developed an abscess in the sole of his foot. Despite repeated cycles of antibiotics, both applied topically and taken orally, this hole in his foot (measuring about an inch across and 3/4 of an inch deep) would not heal for almost 2 months. Finally, tired of the continuous bandaging and pain, he called me for some suggestions.

I immediately suggested the probiotic, enzyme, and blue-green algae salve. Being a straightforward fellow, he refused to use all three ingredients of the salve, claiming that the combination seemed just as complicated as his antibiotic regimen. He insisted on just one ingredient, so I suggested he dump 2 capsules of acidophilus on the wound daily.

He stopped using the antibiotics and did so, applying 1 capsule of acidophilus to the wound morning and night. Within a week, the wound finally closed over and the pain diminished. Despite this, he continued applying the acidophilus as a paste to wounded area. In addition, since he had most of the bottle of acidophilus left over, he took one capsule morning and night. Within two weeks, the entire wound had healed.

Now this may be surprising, but scientists are now saying that probiotics are useful, either in place of antibiotics or used in conjunction with antibiotics. For instance, once study cited in the European Journal of Clinical Pharmacology indicates that when probiotics are used in conjunction with antibiotics, physicians see reduced levels of infection, resulting in shorter hospital stays and fewer post-surgical complications.

Their conclusion is that probiotics play an active role in supporting the immune system, especially in cases where certain bacteria have developed an immunity to antibiotics.

Sounds pretty good to me. I'm not a big fan of antibiotics but I understand that there is need for them at certain times. But when and if they are used, I always suggest the us of probiotics as an immune enhancer, and as a wonderful natural aid to wound care. Being "natural" parts of our body's immune system, probiotics can't help but support the healing process.

Food Allergy Symptoms: Natural Solutions for Relief

Food allergies are a bigger deal than most people think. Did you know that food allergies affect about 60% of the population? Listen to this:

"The incidence of food allergy is greater than the incidence of any other type of illness affecting mankind."

Wow, that's pretty powerful! The quote above is from James Breneman, former chairman of the Food Allergy Committee of the American College of Allergists.

Now here's the kicker: we make ourselves allergic to food. No kidding. Let me explain.

How We Develop Food Allergy Symptoms
We can become allergic to just about any kind of food. To keep it simple, I'll explain what happens with just one kind of food: proteins. When we eat protein, the act of chewing starts to break the protein down into component nutrients, a process which is continued in the stomach and then the small intestine.

According to researcher Karl Abrams, our normal healthy digestive process allows about 2% of these proteins to slip through the intestinal wall into the bloodstream. Once in these proteins enter the bloodstream, our bodies no longer recognize them as "food." Now they have become "foreign invaders" and the body jumps into an immune response. It produces antibodies to fight off these foreign invaders, and food allergy symptoms are often the result!

When our bodies don't recognize food particles in the bloodstream, we become allergic to them. The next time we eat this kind of food, our body immediately goes into a food allergy reaction.

Food allergy symptoms can include digestive upset, such as diarrhea, gas, and bloating; skin conditions like hives; and swelling of various body parts, such as the throat or hands and feet. In fact, if it goes on for a long period of time, the liver becomes affected, since this organ is responsible for filtering the blood of excess toxins. When the liver is affected, then we can develop long-term chronic conditions like psoriasis.

What's worse is that most people don't have healthy digestion. So while a healthy digestive system let's 2% of the proteins we eat to enter the bloodstream, a body under stress lets even more proteins cross the intestinal wall, which produces even worse food allergy symptoms.

Natural Ways to Prevent Food Allergy Symptoms
Now that you know how we develop food allergy symptom, the next thing is to discover how to prevent them. Luckily, there are three nutritional supplements that can relieve and prevent these symptoms:

- AFA blue-green algae
- probiotics like acidophilus and bifidus
- food enzymes

#1: AFA Blue-Green Algae
Blue-green algae has two important nutrients to help prevent food allergies: beta-carotene and chlorophyll. Studies show that these substances in AFA blue-green algae help "dramatically stimulate specialized cells around the intestinal walls to secrete lubricating material and thus help prevent this type of allergic reaction" (Karl Abrams). In other words, the beta carotene and chlorophyll in blue-green algae strengthen the intestinal wall, so proteins and other food particles can't slip into the bloodstream. No particles in the bloodstream equals no food allergies. Abrams notes that the omega-3 fatty acids in the algae help as well.

#2: Probiotics like Acidophilus and Bifidus
Probiotics are the "friendly bacteria" that live in our intestines and do the bulk of the work of digesting our food once it has passed through the stomach. Acidophilus and bifidus are among the most important of these friendly bacteria, and provide a barrier between the intestines and the bloodstream, as well as helping us fully digest our food.

Stress, drinking chlorinated water, taking medication, or drinking alcohol can all decrease the population of probiotics in our gut, leading to what is called "leaky gut syndrome," the phenomenon discussed earlier in which food particles slip into the bloodstream. Taking acidophilus and bifidus orally on a daily basis keeps our probiotic population at healthy levels, which creates good digestion and prevents food allergy symptoms. In my experience, eating live yogurt is not enough to prevent food allergies. One needs to take highly-concentrated acidophilus and bifidus in capsule form that are stored in refrigerators (keeps the bacteria healthy and active).

#3: Food Enzymes
Did you know that there are enzymes and co-enzymes that digest every kind of food we eat? What's more, organic raw foods contain all the enzymes needed to digest themselves. For instance, Eskimos eat enough raw fish in their diet that they don't suffer from poor digestion or heart disease. Their food has enough enzymes to literally digest itself, keeping the Eskimos healthy. In fact, the word Eskimo even means "he who eats raw food." So, enzymes are very important because they are key to healthy and complete digestion.

Here's the really good news about enzymes: if your digestion isn't perfect, eating enzymes with and between meals can support digestion and help with food allergy symptoms. When taken with food, enzymes help ensure proper digestion and prevent food particles from entering the bloodstream. When taken separate from food, the enzymes are able to pass through the intestinal barrier (just like the food particles) to digest the food particles in the bloodstream. This prevents the immune system from thinking that food is an invader, thus preventing the immune response that causes food allergy symptoms.

Adding these three simple nutritional supplements to your daily regimen--AFA blue-green algae, probiotics like acidophilus and bifidus, and enzymes--can do a lot to support your body's digestive process, and relieve food allergy symptoms.

Simple, effective, and convenient ... now that's what works for most people when it comes to nutritional supplements!

- generates free radical cell damage and cell death
- inhibits many antioxidants, including super oxide dismutase (SOD)
- retards brain development
- speeds the development of diabetes, hypertension, strokes, and cardiovascular disease
- causes muscle weakness, include chronic fatigue syndrome

... and that's only the short list!

- chlorophyll
- enzymes
- antioxidants

Then I usually suggest people take Simplexity Health Essentials, daily packs of supplements that include AFA blue-green algae, enzymes, acidophilus, and bifidus. For an extra boost, I also suggest the Super Sprouts from the same company, as the concentrated wheat sprouts have a very strong antioxidant effect in the body.

Can Nutrition Change Our Genetics? No Doubt

We are born with a genetic "blueprint," and the argument goes that our bodies must grow and develop according to this blueprint without change; our fate is locked. Right?

Wrong!

Just because we may be born with a genetic disposition toward Alzheimer's, heart attack, stroke, or diabetes does not mean that we are destined to have these diseases. In spite of our genetic blueprint, we can most definitely take action to stop these diseases from manifesting.

How Can Genetics Be Changed?
Just because we may carry a gene that predisposes us to a certain disease does not mean that we will "get" the disease. This is because these genes have to be "turned on" for the disease to occur. As long a gene that makes us prone to a disease is "off," we are safe.

Now the question becomes, "How do we turn genes on and off?" Research shows that there are multiple factors that affect whether a gene is on or off, which include:

- stress
- physical trauma
- environmental agents and toxins
- NUTRITION

The word "nutrition" is capitalized because studies have shown it to be the most effective factor in determining whether genes are on or off, so much so that good nutrition can override chemical and environmental triggers for disease-causing genes.

Two Examples of Genes Being Turned On or Off by Nutrition
It's well known in the scientific community that the juvenile diabetes (type I) gene is turned on in children who frequently drink cow's milk or eat foods high in MSG. Yet children who eat a healthy diet high in antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, and trace minerals tend not to get juvenile diabetes.

At the other end of the spectrum, research shows that the development of cancer is the result of many genes being switched on over a period of time, making older people more likely to develop cancer. Phytochemicals, the colored pigments in plants that protects them from the harmful effects of UV radiation, have been shown to inhibit the activation of cancer genes or by preventing the cancer gene's instructions from reaching its destination.

For instance, one kind of cancer gene may send instructions to certain enzymes to produce a special protein that will promote the growth of cancer. In the presence of phytochemicals, however, those instructions never reach their destination, the special protein is not formed, and cancer never occurs.

Blue-Green Algae: One of the Richest Sources of Genetic Nutrition
Blue-green algae is one of the richest sources of phytochemicals on the planet, for very good reason. About 2.5 to 3.8 billion years ago, when blue-green algae was Earth's only inhabitant, the effect of solar radiation was immense since the planet's protective ozone layer was less than 1% of present levels. To survive the sun without being burned to a crisp, blue-green algae had to develop powerful antioxidant pigments and protective agents.

Today blue-green algae, especially aphanizomenon flos-aqua (AFA) algae, remains one of the most dense sources of phytochemicals, as well as providing 20 amino acids our cells need to repair damaged DNA and RNA. In fact, nucleic acids (the ones needed to repair DNA and RNA) form between four and seven percent of the algae's dry weight. Taking blue-green algae thus doubly protects our bodies from harmful genes by:

1. Preventing harmful genes from being turned on
2. Repairing damaged DNA and RNA, which prevents harmful genes from being turned on by mutation

Nutrition for Your DNA and RNA
Taking in the amino acids that make up our DNA and RNA keeps our genetic material health. In laboratory tests, mice in injected with RNA and DNA lived almost twice as long as those not injected.

If you don't feel like injecting yourself with amino acids everyday, the good news is that you can take them orally. Scientists at the Baylor College of Medicine demonstrated that when blue green algae was taken orally, large quantities of nucleic amino acids survived the digestive process and were integrated at the cellular level.

So these days, when there are so many environmental toxins to worry about, not to mention high levels of stress, you can do one simple thing to protect, support, and enhance your genetic blueprint ...

... eat AFA blue green algae.

How simple can it get?

Natural Anxiety Remedy: Vitamin B12

People have a lot of reasons to feel anxious and nervous these days, from the ups and downs of the stock market to stress at work and lack of money.

At the same time, many of these people who are aware of the Law of Attraction, which says that the more anxious we feel the more likely we are to attract events that will make us even more anxious, are struggling not to feel anxious.

So what's a self-aware person stuck in a not-so-good situation to do?

Natural Remedies for Anxiety

While there are many activities you can do to reduce your level of anxiety, such as exercises or meditation, sometimes you need a physical boost to help your body calm down, and thus allow you to feel more mentally and emotionally peaceful.

Studies have shown that when our bodies are in "fight or flight mode," and using the sympathetic nervous system, we cannot heal, relax, or rest. With all the world changes and chronic uncertainty in the world today, it's a sure bet that most of us are in "fight or flight" mode at least once a day.

Luckily, there are some natural nutritional remedies that can help your body shift from the "fight or flight" sympathetic nervous system back into the resting parasympathetic nervous system. When your body is relying on the parasympathetic nervous system, you feel relaxed and peaceful rather than anxious and high-strung.

The Importance of Vitamin B12 in Reducing Anxiety
Vitamin B12 is one of the more effective natural substances that help your body "let down" and relax. Various research studies, cited in Dr. Walter Willet's Harvard Medical School Guide on food and nutrition, indicate that a lack of B12 can result in

- memory loss
- muscle fatigue
- increased risk of heart disease
- dementia

To this list, Dr. Karl Abrams adds that B12 deficiency is also linked with:

- chronic anxiety and nervousness
- low energy
- mental fatigue
- disorientation
- poor oxygenation of the blood
- Alzheimer's disease

If any of these symptoms sound familiar, then you may be low in vitamin B12. In fact, B12 deficiency is becoming so prevalent that many doctors are now prescribing B12 injections for many of their patients. But don't worry, if the thought of needles nauseates you, you can always get B12 from multiple other sources!

Where to Get Concentrated Sources of Vitamin B12
In attempt to increase the levels of B12 in their bodies, many people take B12 in a capsule or liquid supplement. But the fact of the matter is that the reason many people lack B12 is not because they don't ingest enough of it, but because they don't absorb it well. Dr. Willet indicates that one-sixth of older Americans are deficient in B12 because they cannot absorb the B12 they ingest.

B12 is best absorbed from whole-food sources. The best sources of B12 foods, in order of concentration, are:

- blue-green algae (AFA species only)*
- liver
- tuna
- yogurt

- cottage cheese

* AFA stands for aphanizomenon flos-aqua, a specific kind of blue-green algae that has been tested to have very high concentrations of B12. Other kinds of blue-green algae, including certain forms of spiraling, have been shown to possess molecules that actually block the body's absorption of vitamin B12. That's why it's important to choose the correct form of blue-green algae if you want to increase your B12 levels.

In addition to eating foods high in B12, adding probiotics like acidophilus and bifidus to your diet also help increase your levels of B12. This is because these "friendly bacteria" live in your gut and actually produce B12. They do this so efficiently that adding just a small amount of probiotics to the diet has been shown to decrease symptoms of nervousness and anxiety in people and animals.

In fact, with performance horses it has become a common practice to feed concentrated doses of probiotics orally prior to hauling or showing because of the almost immediate positive effect this has on anxiety and nervousness.

So ... if you are struggling with anxiety or nervousness on a daily basis, check your diet to see whether you may be low in vitamin B12. If so, you may wish to consider adding AFA blue-green algae and probiotics to your daily supplement regimen, as well as consuming other foods high in B12 on a regular basis.

Vitamin B12 is a simple, natural remedy to the problem of anxiety with none of the side-effects of conventional medication prescribed for this condition.
