Cancer: Diet, Nutrition ... and Golf!

We've all heard about the "war on cancer" and the billions of dollars spent researching ways to prevent and cure cancer ... YET,

Did You Know that Cancer:
  • is the second leading cause of death in the US
  • every 30 seconds an American is diagnosed as having the disease
  • every 55 seconds another American dies from the disease?
Cancer is simply the body's cellular regeneration process gone wrong. Research now shows that at least 35% of the disease is related to nutritional factors. According to the Committee on Diet, Nutrition, and Cancer, "At present we have overwhelming evidence ... (that) none of the risk factors for cancer is ... more significant than diet and nutrition."

Foods rich in beta-carotene have been shown through various studies to help reduce the risks of cancer. Isolated sources or synthetic sources of beta-carotene however do not help reduce the risk. When making sure you get beta-carotene in your diet, supplements of only beta-carotene or in multivitamins are not useful in reducing the risk of cancer. Super Blue Green algae is not only a rich source of beta-carotene, but also has other ingredients that have cancer-preventative properties, including chlorophyll and the blue-green algae pigment called cryptophycin.

Studies have also shown that there is a potential benefit to eating algae before and after radiation for cancer patients. The beta-carotene from algae can help protect against the damage to cells by free radicals from radiation treatment and may help alleviate chemo side effects. In addition, eating algae can help slow the loss of white blood cells.

FYI: Recent research shows that participation in sports has a beneficial effect on health, especially for cancer survivors. The most popular sport? One study showed ... you got it, golf!
